Nature Within: An Ancient Healing Arts Yoga and Meditation Retreat -  2018 marks the Nature Year!  Devote a weekend to release, receive and renew to connect to your roots and transform your inner Self.  Increase your awareness and state of consciousness through various yoga and meditation practices surrounded by nature in the serenity of Assateague Island National Seashore.  


Assateague Island Alliance is partnering with Zenna Wellness Studio to expand health and wellness opportunities in National Parks and present the FIRST ever yoga and meditation retreat at Assategue Island National Seashore.  As the partnering organization we are able to provide world class experiences inside one of the most pristine coastal environments on the planet.  Escape to a place within nature to connect to the divine light inside you and let it shine!  All proceeds are for the direct benefit of Assateague Island National Seashore.


August 17-19, 2018

Limited to 50 participants

$250 early bird, $225 for AIA members through June 17, 2018.  $300 after June 17, 2018.

Registration for this retreat includes all sessions and activities, overnight tent camping in group campsite located yards from the ocean, use of Assateague Island National Seashore facilities, drinks and snacks.  Meals are not provided in the registration fee.  We are unable to waive park entrance fees and we encourage carpooling.  Info on park entrance passes can be found here  We believe yoga meets you where you are and have designed all sessions to be accessible to all levels.  Because we are all on our own journeys and paths allow yourself to come without expectation and with an openness to receive exactly what is intended for you. Make this retreat your own to serve your greater well being.  Camping is encouraged but certainly not required.  Alternate accommodation options are available upon request.

3-5 pm:  Campsite check in

6-7 pm:  Check in and community time!

7-9 pm:  Welcome, Orientation, and connect in with Yoga Nidra  led by Nancy Dalesio.  Begin your transformation with complete mental, physical and emotional relaxation and refresh your ways of thinking, healing, and fulfilling your conscious intentions.

Sound Bath gifted by Chrissy Ehrhart indoors at the EEC.  Find deep relaxation in the mind's thetic state as vibrations and sounds travel through the body to create harmonious balance within all of the body and mind's cells.  Trained in sound healing and sound therapy, Chrissy Ehrhart will lead us through an ancient healing modality using musical vibrational instruments such as crystal and Himalayan Bowls, drums, bells and voice to release old wounds, patterns, and behaviors.   Sound therapy nourishes the body's nerve endings and may reduce chronic pain and inflammation, lower heart rate, blood pressure and toxic levels in the body.  Stored emotions and energy blockages may be released and all while listening to a beautiful orchestra of sound embracing your every cell!   Sound healing is used in clinical, personal and hospital settings in the US and all around the world.....including University of Maryland!

5:30-7:30 am:  Walking Meditation Life of the Dunes Trail – Release, Receive, and Renew at your own pace on this half mile trail through the sand dunes while the sun rises.  Follow your individual path guided by chakra labyrinth cards.  Tip you may want to bring a journal.

8-9 am: Yoga on the Beach: Arriving in a meditative state integrate your intentions through asana to keep your self open to continuing on your path of transformation.

9-10:  Break for Breakfast

10-11 am:  Create Your Intention--Make and Take Breakout Session.  Choose one of the following:

  • Chakra Infused Essential Oils: Michelle Schachter – Create balance in the bodies energy systems by building a crystal roller ball and essential oil blend to suit your healing journey.  Outdoors
  • Meditative Mandalas: Set an intention, relax and welcome self-discovery through the creation of your personal mandala transforming objects or trash from the beach to a piece of personal artistry.  Outdoors
  • Meeting your Spirit Animal Shamanic Meditation: Chrissy Ehrhart -  Experience a one of a kind drumming mediation to invite your spirit animals along on your journey.  Spirit animals have been known to show themselves to us in times where we need guidance and through their special messages help us to find clarity in our day to day experiences or even in our significant life events.  Presented by Chrissy “Cree” Earhart, shamanic practitioner and trained with Libby Piper in Native American ceremonies.  …certified yoga instructor 200 hours, certified aerial yoga instructor, meditation instructor, certified and trained sound healer, certified and trained in various shamanic vocal toning, shamanic practitioner, initiated into the Peruvian munay-ki rights, trained in native American ceremonies. 11:30 am-12:30 pm:  Activate your Subtle Body in Breakout Session 2.  Three offered simultaneously

  • Chakra Heal and Clear Flow and Alignment:  Lora Cole – Yoga practice to work energy through the body to restore the power of your chakras and boost your health and wellness.  Outdoors
  • Kundalini Prana Breathwork:  Kristen Wood –  Explore breath as our life force and learn to manage different states of consciousness, relaxation, well-being and how balance your energy in the midst of stress and emotional chaos.
  • Meeting your Spirit Animal Shamanic Mediation:  indoors with Chrissy see above for description.

12:30 pm:  Break for Lunch

1:30-3pm:  Integrative Health Workshop with Keynote Instructor Amy Genevieve Kozak

                Western medicine is incorporating the benefits of Eastern practices now more than ever before! Join Amy in honoring the strongly rooted traditions of meditation and therapeutic yoga in an integrative health workshop specially tailored for this weekend retreat. Our time together will support your personal self-care efforts and healing journey; while also honoring our collective struggles, and responsibilities for one another and our shared planet.  Indoors

3pm: Free time and dinner on your own

7-9 pm: Fire Ceremony – Fire is a beautiful symbol of dissolving the old and revealing new soil and foundation to build or to grow.  The ashes left behind are a symbolic reminder of that which once was and has created space for the newness in our lives.  We will write intentions to let go of what no longer serves us to make room for the newness and growth we will invite into our lives through the self-discoveries that may have been revealed to us through this retreat.

9 am:  Gentle Yoga on the beach into Spiritual Garden Meditation led by Chrissy –After your experience of releasing and receiving it’s now time to send you off in renewal through a light yoga practice to keep our hearts and minds open for our personal growth in the upcoming year.  


10 am: Circle Ceremony led by Chrissy - We gather in send-off back to our daily lives and we will invite in our new intention for our upcoming year.  


11 am: Love, Hugs and Check-out


The FINE print. Nature Within is an all-weather event indoor outdoor event.  Schedule is subject to change.  Spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis.  Registration received by mail will be processed in order of postmark date.  Please submit registration form and payment in person or mail to our office located at the Assateague Island Visitor Center, address located above.  Once registered, you will receive a receipt as confirmation followed by detailed workshop information.  Cancellation Policy:  For all cancellations made by August 1 participants will receive a refund minus a $25 administrative fee.  No refunds will be given for cancellations made after August 1, 2018.  If AIA cancels the workshop participants will receive a full refund.
